No Longer Metal Rebel?

I've received reports that Metal Rebel is no longer Metal Rebel but an African American club with stiff security (ie. prepare to be padded). Can anyone confirm this?

Rebel Myth Confirmed!

WE ARE SAD TO SAY THAT METAL REBEL IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED FOR BUISNESS. OUR LAST NIGHT WAS SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2006. WE WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR A GREAT 3 YEARS OF BUISNESS. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY MANY GREAT TIMES AT THE REBEL AND YOU ALL WILL SURELY BE MISSED!!

Metal Rebel is closed

Per their website - "WE ARE SAD TO SAY THAT METAL REBEL IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED FOR BUSINESS. OUR LAST NIGHT WAS SEPTEMBER 10TH, 2006. WE WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR A GREAT 3 YEARS OF BUSINESS."

Please Consult Bylaws

Alex,
What is the appropriate TNBC procedure to take place should a defunct location win by popular vote?

Should the runner-up be awarded the victory, or should the defacto winner be permitted the win?

Do we need to convene an emergency council meeting of TNBC elders?

I'm just ax'in.

Michael

I think if the actual winner

I think if the actual winner of the popular vote is no longer operating we should go with the "spirit" of the winner and not the losing venue. Therefore, we should go someplace with pool and music, such as the Fox and Hound.

Nice Try Suzanne ;)

While I'd prefer Fox N Hound over a non-existent Metal Rebel I've got to let the system play it out. This way hopefully people will get off their @ss and vote next time. If we rig the system now no one will ever worry about voting. Mind you - everyone's vote reset at 7pm (because I have the clock on GMT time or something - need to change that) so if you already voted today squeeze another one in!!!

:D a

No Metal Rebel?

This sucks! I really wanted to go!!!!

Now I am not signing on to this group! And I am not inviting my model friends.

Nice one Santi :)

Haha,

Santi - when you said you'd bring models I asked if you had any under 65 years of age - if you read the fine print on the Metal Rebel closing you'll see that it got overwhelmed by senior citizens who were such badass dancers that the place promptly got upgraded to a club. Santi - what have you done??

Mike - the official TNBC procedure for a defunct location is going to go into effect soon - wait and see :)

TNBC Assessed Penalty

Alex,
Do you think it proper that Santiago should forfeit (oh, I don't know) two kayaks for his unethical behavior at the polls?

I say he buys everyone beers

Beers are on Santi this week :)

No actually I think he's doing it legit. There are fort knox style security measures in place to prevent voting mishaps. ;)

I Vote for the Kayak Overturn

AND FREE BEERS ON SANTI!!

All Right, My French Has Just Given Out

What is the source of this conspiracy???!?!?!!?!?

The source is a can of whoop-ass

The source is Santi getting whooped on by beerboy on the tennis courts :D

Actually I think it is great that there are 25 people online...

...at 10pm over the site of the next TNBC..........Brewhahahahahaahah

Thanks for the promo Santi

Yep, thanks for the advertising Santi :D I did hear that you are pussing out of this week though after promoting the living @#$% out of it. I don't know Michael, I think we need to mob Santi on Thursday and drag him into the "formerly Metal Rebel" club :)

OH! Bravo is SO VERY GOING this week!!!!!!!!!!

to the joint formerly known as Metal Rebel...and that is about all I have to say about that...

I'm Still trying to understand the Coup

I mean, here we have Bravo, who knows the joint is "formerly held" and is able to recruit an army to support some crap.....are we sure he isn't from Venezuela? Is he really not a plant of Hugo Chavez?

...all I know is that I know where two kayaks are......

Haha, and check this out

Santi (Bravo) uses our old system (Yahoo Groups) to spread lies and defamation:

Santi writes:

Ok, so apparently the Metal Rebel has gone out of business. Even though we are not going there this week you should still vote for the Rebel. Here is why:

Alex and Michael are so confident that the Metal Rebel will not win this weeks election that they have told me in private conversations that they will buy everyone beers this Thursday if the Metal Rebel wins.

Want a free beer?

Vote for the Metal Rebel

I am the Rebel. And I approve this message

WTF??? First of all, why would we tell only him that we're buying free beers? The truth is that Santi said if he doesn't get Metal Rebel to win this week he's going to do naked cartwheels while singing "I am a Rebel - Ecuadoooooooor" in Spanish in front of the bouncers at the "formerly Rebel" club (btw, does anyone know what it's called?). Now I see why he busted his ass so much ;)

Jokes, coupes, and defamation aside - this has been quite the promo for TNBC, so thx Santi. The only problem we're left with is that Metal Rebel is going to win and that will pretty much screw this week's TNBC (the perpetrator himself has told me he's skipping out on his own grand event!). But another thx goes out to Santi for that one. Why? Because this will hopefully act as a wake up call - if you don't like the weeks' pick get up off 'yo ass and VOTE! You can't complain about this weeks' selection if you didn't vote. And if you did, well, find Santi next time and tie him down for a week.

:D

Amen Beerboy

Though I still believe in vigilante justice and public floggings.

Diamonback - this weeks real location -

Today is a bright day. This day will be remembered in the history of TNBC as the day when Democracy was triumphant over the evil claws of a Unilateral Regime with an endless thirst for power and supremacy.

I thank you all for your support and dedication.

Having proven that together we stand powerful, we must now be men and women of honor and accept the second runner up as the next location for this Thursday. And from now on, I propose that the second runner up be the default location in case the elected location is not available. Let’s have a referendum and vote on this matter.

Friends, I invite you to have a minute of silence in honor of the great Metal Rebel. And don’t forget to ask Alex and Michael for your beers.

Your humble server

Santiago

Voice Your Opinion!

Well spoken Santi :)

This was indeed a rigorous test of our democratic system, and shows that even if voters are totally mislead (free beers my ass) ;), when motivated, people will rally around a cause. And I don't think anyone can doubt now the importance of voting!

Since we are now confirmed as an open-minded, democratic society I will say that nothing is written in stone. The people can move the stone if they so choose. It's all in your hands! (getting teary now, have to stop).

Okay, here's my proposal - since no one seems to want to go to the "formerly Rebel" club, I'm going to support Santi's proposal that from now on if a location closes, or changes, the runner up gets picked. That being said, I will re-announce today's TNBC location as Diamondback by the end of today unless a majority object.

Please voice your opinions accordingly.

yay for Diamondback

Although I was all for the free beers (and I think we should hold Alex to it ;))I think Diamondback is a good choice. Thanks Santiago!

beers on santi

considering he pulled all that straight out of his ass i think he should buy a round as reparation :)

now that i think about it - santi, you really do owe me beers - from the 5 point tennis games, remember? !! i will be collecting the next time i see you :D

Notice: Bravo suggested that El Dorado be declared the winner

...as the second runner-up

...and as long as Hugo Chavez is a member of this group, I fear that I must begin my boycott for an indefinite period of time.

The Devil

P.S. "I think all right-thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired."

Diamondback

Actually he wrote "diamondback" in the subject line - I think he just goofed up on terminology - I fell for it too :)

Here Here!

I agree that this was a good lesson - even if founded on a lie! The system works and when motivated, people will rally around a cause! Get out there and vote - not only for TNBC but also at the political election next week.

Democracy My Ass!

After operating behind the guise of democracy, using our old system to spam everyone, and lying about "free beers," the Rebel of Liberty sold out by signing up under multiple names to beef up the votes for Metal Rebel!

I should have thought to check the email addresses behind Mr Presidente, Mr Rebelde, and Mr Xavier ;)! Since these alter egos of Santi squeezed in two votes each, (and we're in NC, not FL), we need to discount 6 of those. That brings the votes for Metal Rebel down to 24, three behind Diamondback's 27!

This makes it no longer necessary to wait until the end of the day to update the winner, as the true winner was Diamondback all along.

The lesson learned here is that I need to implement a "Santi filter" to prevent him from scamming the system.

:D

lest wash the dirty close in public

Ok, so lets inform the public of all the irregularities in the process. The poles are suposed to end at midnight. However, Mr. Beerboy did not close the poles - and had no intentions to do so - until Diamondback's had taken the lead. It was late at night on Tuesday that I decided to introduce Mr. Presidente, Mr. Rebelde and Mr. Xavier.

We were both not playing fair.

Shame on us.

I had a blast though.

Haha, oops

Actually, that's total crap, for several reasons:

1) I can see exactly when Mr Presidente, Rebelde, and Xavier were introduced. And it wasn't late at night on Tuesday - it was just after 4pm in the afternoon, and since the timer resets at 7pm, they each had the opportunity to vote twice, which they took when 4 more votes came in before midnight.

2) It says on the locations page that the poles end Wednesday morning - I made that change a while ago when I couldn't get the scheduler to work properly (when it works I'll change it to midnight).

3) There were no additional votes after midnight save 1 for Metal Rebel and 2 for Diamondback. So at midnight, minus your phony votes, Diamondback was still leading by two points.

4) You used the old Yahoo Group system to spam people with vote requests by telling them a lie. A couple people talked to me about that and said they only voted for Metal Rebel because of the free beers you falsely promised them.

5) You told me you weren't even coming this Thursday. It's easy to vote for a closed location if you're not going to be there - you said you knew it was closed, why not pick another one to rally up the charts?

6) I'm not pissed that you scammed the system - in fact, it drummed up good promo :) But don't pull me into your dirty laundry - I was man enough to let Metal Rebel win, why do you have to puss out with excuses while posing on this "democracy" pedestal? I could easily have logged in as "Lincoln," "Washington," and "Adams" and posted enough votes to push Diamondback to the top. Or I could simply multiply Diamondback votes by 2. There's a reason I didn't do either of these and stuck by the rules I had laid out. Obviously no one's going to bother voting if I can change stuff around at whim.

I was especially encouraged by your challenging of the system and had no problem letting Metal Rebel win to show that anything can win, even if it's closed and gone high-security club. That's why I was disappointed to find out that after all that you had to get your hands dirty to win.

Ranting aside, it was fun and I look forward to more coupes and drama if it gets more people involved :D
